LIKE Canada, LIKE ME and now LIKE Global

The LIKE (Location Intelligence Knowledge Exchange) series of conferences started with LIKE Canada which was held in person at Ryerson University on the 19th February 2020. The goal of the conference was to bring location intelligence practitioners and interested parties together to exchange technologies and ideas. LIKE Canada exceeded all expectations and the community created from it was keen to continue with a series of themed conferences.

LIKE ME (Mother Earth edition) was held virtually in the afternoons of 4 successive Wednesdays – 16th and 23rd of February as well as the 2nd and 9th of March 2022. LIKE ME was themed on climate change with the more specific goal that location intelligence and other disciplines unite in looking for innovative climate change solutions. This conference was also well attended and achieved its goal. Papers were solicited for the conference and with 7 papers submitted, reviewed and presented, and subsequently published, this experiment was also a success. LIKE ME reused the LIKE Canada site https://www.likecanada.ca/

Given that digital twin technology is riding a wave[1] of innovation and investment and location intelligence is a foundational and essential technology for digital twins, the theme for the next LIKE conference will be Digital Twins.

This edition of the conference will be global, to date covering the UK, Canada and Australia. A presence from more countries (for example Germany and US) is expected.

[1] The global digital twin market was valued at USD 7.53 billion in 2020, and it is expected to reach a value of USD 46.08 billion by 2026, registering a CAGR of 35.01% over the forecast period, 2021 - 2026.
